Drimkeelan Sandstone Quarry

Our quarry has been the source of this top quality sandstone to many of the iconic buildings throughout Ireland and the U.K. for centuries. Whilst our stone still features in many such buildings, we also supply stones for contemporary houses, floors, fireplaces, walls, flowerbeds, patios, flagstones, headstones and sundials. The quality sandstone is colloquially referred to as Mountcharles Stone, Mountcharles Sandstone or Donegal Stone, based on the general area of it's origin. Please view our gallery to appreciate the scope, quality and features of our stone.

A little bit contemporary

Mountcharles Sandstone, when worked by craftsmen can give your project a unique, solidly built and aesthetically pleasing appearance. Combined with it's low maintenance and weather resistant features, it has remained the popular choice of builders both public and private, over many generations.

A little bit historical

The foundation stone for Sligo City Hall as it is known today, was laid in 1865 and the building was ready for occupation some seven years later. The extensive use of Mountcharles Sandstone, throughout the building is testament to the quality, texture and durability of Mountcharles stone which was shipped to Sligo for this and several other public buildings, all of which remain resplendent to this day.
